The Lost Recordings

The Lost Recordings is proud to honour all these great moments of rare or previously unreleased recordings by legendary artists and publish albums on Reel Tape, LP Record, and Ultra-HDCD.

One mission: to bring this priceless heritage back to life:

- Unique process (Phoenix Mastering®) that reveals the undreamed-of details
- A long process of research in the world
- A unique know-how in the world
- From the original analogue tapes

French music label founded in 2008 by pianist Frédéric D'Oria-Nicolas, who travels the world in search of rare or previously unreleased recordings by legendary artists.

A GROUNDBREAKING INNOVATION:

It all began when Phoenix Mastering® was developed. This is a unique process that reveals the undreamed-of details of an analogic recording, giving these performances, some of which were made as early as the 1950s, an incomparable quality of sound.

EXCEPTIONAL SOUND OBJECTS:

Of all the formats we have on offer, our limited-edition vinyl records are the most sought-after as they encapsulate all our know-how. We call on the finest artisans and the most sophisticated production procedures at each stage to make them, a process that takes over four months.

The Lost Recordings released each of the music album productions from the original analogue tapes. The LP Record edition is pressed in 180g, limited to 2000 copies, numbered by hand. It includes a download card for 16-bit files in AIFF format. The Lost Recordings uses a unique restoration project, to bring this priceless classical music heritage back to life.

Their epic journey began with Fondamenta, a record label that shares their passion for adventure, and a crazy bet: to see if they could unearth legendary lost recordings that had never been released. And bring them back to life.

It took a team of highly skilled sound archaeologists over a year to find the first legendary recordings, buried in the immensity of the world’s sound archives. Using their Expert technology, Fondamenta developed Phoenix Mastering®, a unique audio excavation process designed to recover the full richness of analogue tapes.
