The best selection from the various record companies produced this world's first 33 1/3rpm UHQLP (Ultimate Hi Quality Vinyl LP).  Everything sounds simply superb! The vinyl mastering and the "half speed" cut for the trouble-free 180-gram disc of the sampler, pressed using the "1 step" process, was carried out by Miles Showell in the Abbey Road Studios, who explains some interesting things about the technology on a supplementary sheet. 

All selected tracks were sent to Abbey Road Studios to be mastered at half speed. Then a single-stage edit was performed at the factory to produce this UHQLP which has the characteristics of super silence, greater dynamics, better imaging and more musicality!

Side A consists of 1 track of traditional Chinese music and 3 tracks of songs. The recording of all these tracks took place in a 540 square-meter church in Hong Kong. Todd Garfunkle (the head of MA Recordings) and Terence Lai were the sound engineers. In order to capture the natural ambience and acoustics, an original one-point recording technique was used to record the performance of singers and musicians live and directly in DSD 1bit 5.6Mega hz format.

Side B features studio recordings in multitrack. Tracks 1, 2 and 4 were recorded digitally and remastered; tracks 3 and 5 were recorded at least 43 years ago on analog 1/4" open reel tapes at 15 ips and remastered to DSD 1 bit 5.6 MHz.

UHQLP stands for Ultimate Hi Quality Long Play Record. It is a vinyl LP record that is made to the original master recording source using half-speed mastering and one-step processing to make the record.

UHQLP – Pressed with High-Quality Control

UHQLP is pressed on virgin vinyl with the newest generation, German-made pressing machine, under the supervision of AQCD Technology Company. With the help of an advanced German controlling system, time duration, pressure and temperature are critically set and strictly controlled. UHQLP is a vinyl LP faithfully made to the original master source.

Half-Speed Mastering – Enables better grooves cut:

Half-speed mastering was done by award-winning engineer Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in the UK. The cutting lathe running at half-speed (the original being 33 1/3 rpm or 45 rpm) enables the cutting stylus twice as much time to carve the most intricate of grooves. All the difficult-to-cut high-end frequencies become relatively easy-to-cut mid-range frequencies. This results in cuts that have excellent high-frequency response (treble) and very solid and stable stereo images.

One-Step Processing – Less is more:

Instead of the standard three steps lacquer plating process, UHQLP acquires one step processing. In One-Step, the Father stamper (the very first stamper plated from the lacquer) is utilized to press the vinyl record instead of 3-steps processed stamper (the stamper plated from Mother which was plated from Father). This process ensures the lowest surface noise and more musical detail and dynamics.
