This Technics RS-1700 well-built deck is well-known in the audio sound world for its excellent sound quality and reliability, and the tape recorder is a precisely engineered audio sound piece of HIFI equipment that makes a great addition to any vintage audio system.
The Technics RS-1700, which is the same precision "wonder" machine as the epochmaking RS-1500US, reveals the full potential of the "Isolated Loop" tape path by eliminating any loss of performance in the reverse direction. It really should be called the "two-way-forward" tape deck rather than just another auto-reverse deck. The incredible wow and flutter of 0,018% (15 ips) remains unchanged in both forward and reverse directions.

Features of the Technics RS-1700 tape recorder include automatic reverse operation, a 6-head system, a 2-tape tension-controlled DC brushless direct-drive motor, photo-electronic auto-stop sensing, tension roller switches and take-up reel table servo control system.
