Triston Master Recordings is a third generation in the analogue domain with passion for vintage analogue high-fidelity gear and equipment. They are a Swiss label living with analogue music reproduction since 1923 in a professional studio, and only use the very best audiotapes: RTM’ SM911 for master recording, first-generation duplication and making copies from high-quality master tapes.
The truly hifi audio systems usually had reel-to-reel tape recorder: For decades, right through to the 1990s, magnetic tape wound across a pair of open reels was the established medium for master recordings in the music world. Although digital recording and storage now prevails, analogue recording on magnetic tape is still preferred by some artists and its use continues to this day.
The clear path to better and increased enjoyment of music: In sonic terms, reel-to-reel has the potential to deliver the warmth of analogue sound with less processing, greater dynamic range, and better clarity and extension at the frequency extremes than vinyl records. Much depends on how the copy is made – a first-generation copy dubbed in real time directly from the original master tape can get you closer to the entirety of sound capture during the recording sessions for a classic album than any other format… but only if you have a reel-to-reel machine cable of doing it justice.
The music on reel to reel is enjoying increased popularity: The high-fidelity sound of reel-to-reel tape is the latest retro-trend for audiophiles, it has a greater dynamic range, is capable of producing extraordinary sound for the treble and bass and there is less signal processing which is the enemy of a hi-fi extraordinaire. Listening to music on reel-to-reel tape will allow you to discover details in the music you were never able to hear before.
Nothing sounds sonically better than professionally recorded reel-to-reel tape. What’s Old Is New Again!
