Three years ago Alex Dorin created his company Alter Ego Appearance. Alex did so in response to the rapidly decreasing availability of Technicians who perform this level of rebuild. Alter Ego Appearance combines art with technical skill. Custom would be an understatement as each machine is its own new creation. No two machines will ever be identical. Every single part of the reel tape decks are rebuilt; brand new front panels (from scratch), switches, head blocks, caps, motors, EVERYTHING is rebuilt! It is basically a brand new machine.
Providing complete rebuilds and custom-made bespoke modifications, Alter Ego Appearance brings open tape deck restoration as fully rebuild to the next level. Creating brand new front and back panels, side panels, reel spool, nab adapters, new functionality, new features to the deck, jewellery grade metal lettering, powder coating paint, 3D printing, every single piece inside is brand new or rebuilded coding for custom modifications and much more.
