Coming Soon On UHQCD: Harold Farberman - The All Star Percussion Ensemble
Comprised of some of the greatest percussionists from the major US symphony orchestras, the ensemble on this recording, produced by the legendary Andrew Kazdin, creates a sound landscape not often heard in the concert hall or on albums. The conductor, Harold Farberman, who was also responsible for the arrangements contained on the recording, provides direction resulting in a unified sound and balanced sonic platform for these demanding works.
Another remarkable piece of music on UHQCD by AudioNautes Recordings, a recording of the highest quality sound. Percussion instruments have only recently become the last members of the symphonic family to be used fully and sensitively by composers, long after strings, woodwinds and brasses have been effectively exploited. Creative interest in the symphonic percussion section began in earnest in the late 1940s and has not yet abated, with rather impressive musical results thus far achieved.
It is safe to say that the skilful use of a liberated percussion section has changed the very sound of contemporary symphonic music. One of the by-products of this welcome development has been the emergence of the percussion ensemble as an independent performing entity throughout the US and all over the world.
These ensembles have programmed new works by some of our most gifted composers and they are responsible for adding a new dimension to America's listening experience. The four composers whose works have been adapted to create this program are all quite different from one another, yet, they have been approached as a single musical organism, with the hope that, even after transfer to the same sound source, they would coexist with one another without giving up or cancelling outany of their respective original characteristics of style, colour, or content.

All About Ultimate High-Quality CD (UHQCD):
UHQCD stands for Ultimate High-Quality Compact Disc and is a joint development of the Japanese CD replication company Memory-Tech and the Audio Quality CD Company from Hong Kong. Unlike conventional CDs, UHQCDs are not pressed from polycarbonate, but cast from a photopolymer and cured with UV light. Another layer of high-purity polycarbonate is applied to the softer photopolymer for scratch protection. The combination results in significantly reduced reflection of laser light inside the CD and an unmatched precise edge transition between pits and lands of the CD. UHQCDs are 100% compatible with standard CD players. Musically, the result is a sound image strongly reminiscent of analogue master tapes.
About AudioNautes Recordings:
The name Audionautes Recordings will almost certainly be familiar to trade show enthusiasts from the HIGH END in Munich: For many years, Fabio Camorani’s company (as well as Camorani’s second technology company AudioNemesis, which he runs together with Giuseppe Intorrella) has been one of the regulars at Europe’s leading hi-fi show. However, AudioNautes has long since become synonymous not only with first-class amplifiers, turntables and loudspeakers with insider tip status but also, with its subsidiary AudioNautes Recordings (ANR), with selected records of the highest quality.
